Our Mission

Mission

We planted the Healing Fairy Tale Garden to inspire the creation and sharing of emotionally-healing tales, poems and illustrations.

We all get hurt by life. Our dream is to compile tales from around the world that act as a salve for our wounds, unfolding new insights and connecting us to empowering emotions. Stories can give us a glimpse of a pathway towards self-compassion, inner peace and love.

Creativity and community are the most valuable ingredients in our garden. When we share our unique voices and express our wounds, light enters those places and our hearts grow.

Tales of Transformation

All the stories we feature within our garden have a transformative arc. The arc start out with negative feelings of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and self-hatred (among others) and transitions to feelings of self-compassion, understanding, and love. This is because we know healing first entails acknowledging our wounds, negative thoughts and emotions. Acceptance of our inner wilderness enables one to reseed those dark places with loving, compassionate thoughts that grow to empower one to lead a life full of self-love, connection and joy. We all deserve to be happy. We want to share stories from around the world of people who have crafted paths that bring them home to their hearts.

The Power of Creativity

Several creative exercises are described within this website, because we know working with your own story may ultimately be the most gratifying experience for you.

We are not therapists, nor do we want to offer therapy, but we have partnered with some therapists to pair questions to these stories. We simply love stories that honor the hardship of life and a return to a loving home within.

We do not claim that these stories will heal you, only you can “heal” yourself. Read our healing disclaimer.

Words from our Founder

This project is the brainchild of Allison Quaid, who wrote her own fairy tales to heal from emotional trauma. She shares why this style of writing worked for her.

Writing connects me to my self-defeating thoughts and raw emotions that keep me trapped in terrifying childhood stories. By writing healing fairy tales, I replace those out-dated defensive stories with kind, compassionate characters that connect to me my own voice and wisdom.
— Allison Quaid

Why Stories?

Each fictional story features a transformative journey of the main character, who goes from fear, anxiety, distrust, and disconnection to a place of love, trust, compassion and connection. We focus on fictional tales, as it is our belief that an adult’s inner child may hold on to storylines that are full of monsters and half-truths, keeping them trapped in negative thinking. To combat this, we tell empowering stories that shed light on past or current pain.

We hope those reading the healing stories feel inspired to ignite their own healing journey, using the stories as fertilizer.

Community

We aim to build community, by having honest and empowering discussions about the power of stories to heal.

This project is an experiment, and we plan to tweak our stories and tool shed along the way. Please help us to make it as loving, healing, empowering and supportive as it can be.

We welcome constructive feedback that will strengthen this garden of healing fairy tales.

Please share this website with others you think may be interested.
